As we all reel from the after effects from some of the most pollution Delhi has seen this year, there are a few foods that can help us feel better through these troubled environmental conditions. Children are especially vulnerable during these days of low air quality and it is very important to keep them protected and well nourished. Here are some foods that keep your lungs and body healthy when the Delhi air is going against you:
Tulsi: The Tulsi plant is very effective at purifying the blood, soothing your throat irritation and boosting immunity.
Turmeric: Turmeric or Haldi is used a lot in our food at Caterman, and we are happy to say that turmeric is very effective in easing people with gastro-oesophageal disorders that often accompany the displeasures caused by polluted air.
Honey: Honey is effective at soothing the throat, healing the stomach and the lungs. Loaded with nutrients, enzymes and minerals it is like a magic potion for the ailing body.
Jaggery: Gur or Jaggery is very rich in iron boosting the haemoglobin levels in your blood which in turn enables your red blood cells to carry more oxygen reducing some of the acute effects of pollution.
Lemon: The high Vitamin C content of lemons fights free radicals that are abundant in polluted air and ensures they are excreted from the human body.
Eat these foods and stay healthy!
